Who handles your information
Your personal information is handled by Marcus Shue trading as T47 Finance (ABN 64 423 816 498) and by my licensee, Mortgage Specialists Pty Ltd trading as Specialist Finance Group (ABN 48 612 422 178, Australian Credit Licence 387025, 325 Churchill Ave, Subiaco WA 6008, 08 9286 6888).
Both are committed to complying with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What I collect from this website
If you use the enquiry form, I collect your name, phone number, email address, the reason for your enquiry and anything else you choose to write in the message field. That is all the form asks for. Please don't send financial documents, tax file numbers or identity documents through the form — I will tell you how to send those securely once we're in contact.
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Basic technical logs are kept by the hosting provider for security and reliability.
What I collect if you engage me
If you go on to use my services I collect the information needed to assess and arrange finance. That includes identification documents, income and employment details, assets, liabilities, living expenses, and information about your requirements and objectives. It may include sensitive information, including health information, and anything you tell me about a vulnerability so I can support you appropriately.
If you ask for a property or suburb report
I only need the address or suburb you want looked at, and an email address to send the report to. That is the whole collection. There is no credit check and nothing is passed to a lender.
The report itself is generated from a third-party property data service under my professional subscription, and is subject to that provider's own terms. The address you give me is used to run the report and to respond to you, and for nothing else.
If you use the Cashflow Drilldown
The Cashflow Drilldown involves collecting up to twelve months of transaction history across your accounts and cards. That is a great deal of detailed personal information and it is handled accordingly.
- Statements are sent through a secure upload link. Do not send them by email, and do not send them through the enquiry form on this site.
- I will never ask for your internet banking username, password or one-time codes, and you should never give them to anyone who does.
- Transaction histories can incidentally reveal sensitive information — a medical provider, a place of worship, a union or political membership. By providing statements you consent to that information being collected as part of the transaction record. It is used only to categorise your spending and is not disclosed for any other purpose.
- Statements are held in access-controlled storage and are not provided to lenders, to my licensee or to anyone else unless you separately ask me to use them as part of a loan application, or the law requires it.
- You can ask me to delete the underlying statements once your written breakdown is complete and I will do so. The breakdown itself, and the records I am required by law to keep, are retained.
Information collected for the Drilldown is collected for the Drilldown. It becomes part of a credit application only where you ask for that and consent in writing at the time you apply — at which point it is handled as loan application information and may be disclosed to the parties listed below. If you would prefer to supply separate documents for a credit application, or to have the Drilldown statements deleted before you apply, tell me and that is what will happen.
Why I collect it
To respond to your enquiry, to make the reasonable inquiries and verification the law requires of me before providing credit assistance, to prepare and submit loan applications, to meet my obligations to my licensee and to regulators, and to keep the records I am required to keep.
Who it may be disclosed to
To do the job, I may need to give your information to:
- lenders and other credit or service providers you have applied to;
- my licensee, Specialist Finance Group, and its contractors — including loan processors, IT and cloud storage providers, and marketing service providers;
- credit reporting bodies, including Equifax and Experian, and other lenders;
- mortgage insurers, valuers, conveyancers, accountants, financial planners, real estate agents, legal advisers and insurers connected with your transaction;
- your referees, such as an employer, to verify what you have told me;
- any industry body, tribunal or court dealing with a complaint about my services;
- anyone considering acquiring an interest in the business;
- anyone else where the law requires it, or where you have given express consent.
Where your information is held
Your information is held by me, in Australia. Cashflow Drilldown statements and the breakdown that comes out of them stay with me and go nowhere else.
The one exception worth naming is this website itself. It runs on a hosting service whose servers sit outside Australia, so the name, phone number and email address you type into the enquiry form pass through and are stored on overseas servers. That is the whole of it — nothing else about you is held there.
If you go on to apply for a loan, the lender will give you its own privacy disclosure explaining how it handles your information and who it uses to do that. That document comes from the lender as part of your application, and it covers the lender's arrangements rather than mine.
Credit reporting
If you engage me, you appoint me as your agent (an Access Seeker) to obtain your credit information from a credit reporting body on your behalf, and authorise me to use and exchange that information in order to assist you. Those authorisations are set out in full in the Privacy Consent and Disclosure that forms part of the Credit Guide, and you sign them before anything happens.
Marketing
I may occasionally send you information about services that may be relevant to you. Tell me at any time if you'd rather I didn't, and I'll stop. There is no cost or consequence to opting out.
If you don't provide the information
You don't have to give me anything. But without the information I ask for I may be unable to assist you in arranging finance or to provide other services.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information held about you, and to have it corrected if it is wrong. Contact me on 0417 969 161 or at marcus@t47finance.com.au and I will respond as quickly as I can.
The licensee's full Privacy Policy — which covers access, correction, storage and its complaints process — is available at specialistfinancegroup.com.au or by calling 08 9286 6888.
Complaints about privacy
If you think your information has been mishandled, tell me first. If you're not satisfied with my response you can escalate it — the process is set out here — or contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
